Blood Tests

Please note that owing to Coronavirus pandemic, all blood tests are now are by appointment only. All patients need to book an appointment for their blood test.

Requests for blood tests and investigations from private providers

We are sometimes asked to arrange tests on behalf of private providers. So a patient may consult with a specialist privately and then the Consultant may write to us asking us to carry out further tests. Our policy is that we do not routinely do this unless we can reliably and safely interpret and manage he results as part of your NHS care. Complying with such requests is outside the scope of NHS primary medical services. We are also unable to offer any routine monitoring blood tests or ECGs for medications prescribed privately.

We have a number of clinics every week with our trained phlebotomists at the surgery for blood tests.

However, we recognise that sometimes our wait time can vary. If you do not wish to wait for an appointment for a blood test at the surgery, you can attend a walk-in clinic at the hospital providing you take your blood form with you.

The hospitals that have walk-in clinics are:

Good Hope Hospital – over 12’s only

Solihull Hospital – over 12’s only

Heartlands Hospital – over 16’s only

TO OBTAIN YOUR BLOOD TEST FORM please ask at reception however, please note our receptionists are unable to print off blood forms, this must be done by a clinician so there may be a wait.

Please visit individual hospital websites for up to date details of their walk-in clinics as these are subject to change.”
